In a horrific cycle of karmic retribution, i realized that one of the tasks awaiting FLL YPC was uncannily similar to what i did in MMI a few months back.
1) there is a master list of PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN SINGAPORE (ok at least the compilation is already done...)
2) CALLING THEM ONE BY ONE, LOCATING THE TEACHER IC OF ROBOTICS
3) INVITE THEM TO COME PARTICIPATE IN FLL
The catch is (from my personal POV) FLL has a verily high barrier to entry, because of the high cost with zero subsidy. Registration is $600, and the Lego Mindstorms set which they have to purchase, if they didnt already have one, would be another $600+.
Ok monetary issues are only superficial, right. The grand ideal behind FLL:
1) to promote creative problem solving - whatever that isnt explicitly stated as CANNOT DO, means everything else is free for all.
2) hopefully this can cultivate students to think-out-of-the-box
3) also to promote teamwork and cooperation
4) make them better people
5) make the world a better place
etcetc.
Haiii.
I think only Liyan will understand the parallels. :c
The only difference is that now that this is voluntary, and that studies should come first, in view of the pressing deadlines and all, i've informed them that i probably cant go down to help out with making phonecalls, though i've shared some experience during the meeting last night.
But seriously, FLL feels quite... challenging. It's not the kind of challenge that makes me feel good about, though.
ARGHRHGRHGHRG.
Ok but now that i'm in this i will do my best.
Which makes me feel like squeezing some time out to go down and lend my help to make the phonecalls, in all due respect i think i am the only one who's done it before, though i cant objectively judge how well, but still.
HAII DILEMMA.
Ok Physics paper, Philo essay and Political Science essay (DAMN SCREWED UP) first. :c:c:c
I am damn sad.
