When it's finally my turn to be able to get my own laptop, I CANT DECIDE. ZOMGGGGG yes it's always so much easier advising/commenting on others, right.
Ok now looking at Acer Aspire 4937 (if i'm not wrong... Laptop models are much harder to remember/differentiate than phone models) Going for about $999, Core 2 Duo P-series, 3gb DDR3 RAM, 320gb HDD, 14" screen. 2+kg. :(

First review that i found on Google.
I considered getting the 2.13ghz white Macbook at $1488++ (after $100 student discount), but i find that the new model looks weird leh!? Please go and take a look at it. The keyboard looks... weird and fake. I asked the guy if it's because it's the display set, but the guy said i was looking at a new one. :| And i was surprised and disappointed to find that the Macbook was so heavy. Almost 2.5kg? Whoa man. And also, i'm actually rather scared that i cant get used to the Mac OS.
SHOULD I JUST GO FOR IT?! Zomggg. But anyway for that price, it offers only 2gb RAM (but then again.. i'm not sure if i can compare coz Mac is on a totally different OS?) and 160gb HDD.
I also checked out Fujitsu when i went to Funan yesterday to scout around, but wah lau Fujitsu super out of budget. :( The only decent looking one S series one was $2388. Wah biang. The cheaper $1288-$1488 L series were really quite ugly, and also very heavy.
Ok rencently i've made a self-revelation - the looks of the laptop matter quite a lot to me, i used to think i would value functionality over looks. But no, some laptops are really damn ugly. :(
Actually the design of this Acer isnt half-bad, one of their best around, in my opinion. And a good thing about it is the black keyboard - the dirt wont be that obvious (my sister obsessively cleans her off-white/grey keyboard of her Fujitsu tablet. Which i am typing on right now and feeling extremely stressed) and i would hate it when the white Mac keyboard starts greying.
My mother is kindly sponsoring a $1.5k budget, whether i max it out or not. HM so
1) JUST BUY THE MAC, maybe +$80 from my pocket to up the HDD to 250gb
2) Buy a cheap Acer, pocket the rest. And maybe use it to buy the HTC Diamond2 :D:D:D Haii but it's a distant dream. I haven given up on X1, though. Or Nokia E66. Bloody hell it came back on the market again :@ who was the idiot salesman who told me it was out of stock forever?!
3) Scout for a decently priced Fujitsu... But Shoes says it's overpriced. But so far it's been the only undisputed "good" brand, unlike the mixed responses for Acer, Dell, Toshiba and Lenovo.
ANY ADVICE/COMMENTS/OPINIONS?
And, anyone wants to come with to IT Fair on Thursday after work??? :):):) I love the crowds and impossible shopping at such fairs.
