Today was a great day.

And you should probably have guessed, the reason why i can take a picture of such a scene was because i was lying on my back, on top of the crate of helmets (which i guess, was more comfortable than ZK who was on the crate of skates) at the back of SWUSV, on the way to East Coast Park.
Started today morning at Bukit Batok with a Trial Class 1-to-1 with this Little Indian Boy who was totally unresponsive. :( And i admit i got damn irritated with him and afterwards Danny told me that from his observation of my class, it was damn screwed up. AAaaAaAAaaAaahhhhhh. I was rather sad. TMD.
Fortunately afternoon class was much better, and i took 2 students - coincidentally another Little Indian Boy who has this cute action of shaking his head in the ethnically distinct manner, and a cute Little Chinese Boy who looks like a hamster. Little Chinese Boy was only at Heel Brake whereas Little Indian Boy was at Backwards Skating + A-Frame Turn + Swizzle, so it was rather positively challenging to juggle the 2 different levels and thankfully it was only 1 student for each level so it was still manageable, in my own opinion.
Then afterwards the Aunt of the Little Chinese Boy (his 2 Aunts were there like chaperoning/observing/encouraging him) talked to me and i suspect she's a teacher or something. So in her teacher-like manner we had this convo
Me: He's learning really fast! And he's really quite good... :)
Her: Maybe it's the coach who's good.
Me: Whoa. Hurhur ok thank you thank you...
Her: It's not a compliment.
Me: *thinking* ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!!!!!!!!!!!
I was totally lost. So i just politely smiled (xiao li cang dao. Like damn dao the dao.) and went away.
DAMN WEIRD.
So afterwards took the SWUSV down to East Coast to finally, FINALLY do my 20th session. ZK and i squeezed in the back of the van while Danny and Yingquan sat in front, and Gabrial drove.
I really cannot describe fully in words, how it felt like in the van. There wasnt enough space to sit up, so we were both lying on our backs, with the weird undulations because of the helmets, and after much shifting, i finally found a good spot to rest my head and even managed to catch some shuteye along the way. I think we must have looked like 2 corpses, if anyone cared to peer through the dusty windscreen at the back of the van. It was smelly and warm and weird and awkward, but then again HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS EXPERIENCE, MAN. HAHAHA! I wonder if i'll do it again. Just wondering in a completely neutral sense. Hm.
Took yet another Trial Class at ECP, and this time was totally, wow Multitasking To The Max. 7 people, mixture of adults + kids. But thankfully they were all rather positive, even the hapless parents of young kids (there was a boy and a girl of about 4 years of age? Damn clueless and zoning out half the time) and they were rather respectful and like "*prods kid* LOOK AT THE COACH!!" Hurhur. Managed to accomplish quite a lot, and i think they ALL seem to be keen to take on lessons with us. YESSSSSS. :) Ok crux on "seem".
And at the end of it, Danny shook my hand and said "Welcome to the SWU family!" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA THANK YOU, LIKE FINALLY. Now let's see which new aspiring trainee can break my 20-sessions-drag-3-months record.
Dinner with them as well, and this was the funniest and also fun-nest part. I used to envy groups of skaters skating through ECP together, but today i was part of one! :D It was a really good feeling. Though admittedly last time while i semi-envied them i also thought, "Wah lau, show-offs." HAHAHA. So skated from where we had lessons (at carpark B1... Further down towards Fort Road, after Big Splash.) all the way back, past Macs, and went to the ECP Food Centre, near the cable-ski place. Bought takeaway and went to a random pavilion to sit and eat, though Winona and i finished our chicken rice even before the rest finished buying their food HAHA.
Sitting at the pavilion with this bunch of people that i've known for only about 3 months and yet feel completely at ease with them, listening to the very-different-from-what-i've-been-used-to conversations, i was suddenly struck by - am i so adaptable and flexible, or have i become numb?
And a few snippets of absolutely hilarious dialogues (imo...)
Me: So where do you stay?
Yingquan: Beside my neighbour lor.
Me: ...
Yingquan: Why dont you ask me where my neighbour stay?
Winona: ... Beside you right?
Yingquan: YES, SO CLEVER!
Danny: I got no money...
Yingquan: I have.
Yingquan: But not enough.
---
Yingquan: You got 10 cents?
Yingquan: SEE, YOU GOT MONEY RIGHT?!
[when the bus passed Katong Mall]
Me: EH! I WAS HERE YESTERDAY!
Yingquan: EH! I am here now.
Aaaah. Took train home with Danny Yingquan and Winona, true to my predictions, we left ECP at about 945pm and i reached JE MRT at 1045pm. Decided to walk home carrying my skates, coz really, woohoo never thought i would say this but i've skated enough for the day. I think we covered a good 10+km in total?! Wow wee. I didnt take off my skates since the start of ECP lesson at 5pm, all the way through lesson, then moving to the Food Centre, buying food, eating, talking, then traveling from ECP to the bus stop at the HDB to take bus 16 to City Hall.
Great day. :D
And of course, now i can look forward to getting paid for every Saturday. YESSS.
*if you were wondering the absence of Jerald, he was totally MIA today coz he was away for First Aid Refresher Course. HAHA.
