Finally! Ah. After realizing that it is rather futile to wait desperately for K2 to have a clearance warehouse sale (as things would go... they might just have one this weekend. Grrr.) i started scouting around for other brands and realized Rollerblade was on 10+10% discount (still must borrow member's card from someone HAHAHA) at World of Sports! So for the model Bladerunner Formula 80, original price was $229, after discount would be ~$185.
BUT! Once again as things would go, hurhur last Sat i went to Queensway for a last ditch attempt at seeing if Skaters World would be selling any old K2 models for below $200, but instead, i found the Formula 80 at SportsLink going for $169. :D:D:D
There was also this other model Bladerunner Pro XT going for $169, but the original price was $269, so actually ok kiasu me, thinking wah Pro XT $100 discount, Formula 80 only $60, so i decided to go home to google both models before buying, and was prepared to return to Queensway this weekend to buy. In the end found out that Formula 80 seems to be the newer model, but dunno why it's cheaper leh? And today, when i went with my family to Westmall for dinner (and along the way, accidentally running into the 40406 class gathering hurhur) found out that SportsLink at Westmall is also selling!!
Yay all in all:
1) $169 quite below original budget of $200, still can spare $30 to buy a set of gear from Jerald tomorrow (YESSSS AND FOREVER BE FREE OF THE SMELLY-SKATE-GEAR SITUATION!!! Ok except for Helmet. HM. Ok wait for Helmet warehouse sale or something.)
2) Aluminum frame on Rollerblade, but this price can get at best a plastic frame on K2. But admittedly K2 Exo/Roadie will look infinitely cooler. I think it's Danny's pair. But he has since moved on to Seba which is... way beyond me, for now. Anyway aluminum frame is said to be stable than plastic, and will of course last longer.
3) ABEC 7 bearings. Though many forums have the general consensus that the ABEC system is rather crappy and worthless, but once again comparing with K2, this price will prob get me only ABEC 5. The higher the number, supposedly the faster and smoother.
4) 80mm wheels. To be honest i have no idea about the size of wheels, except the bigger it is the faster you can go.
5) Overall it's a pair of fitness/recreational skates. Meaning, ordinary, regular use one lah. According to Jerald, there are 5 branches of skating - Aggro(Aggressive=stunts, half pipe etc), Racing, Sliding/Slalom, Figure/Artistic and Hockey.
I think i'll fit into the You-Call-This-Skating?! category hurhur.
Yay i am really quite happy. The last time i had my own pair of skates was about 10 years ago. Wah, the feeling of speed, on your 2 feet, is really (Y)(Y)(Y), indescribable. Ok you have 4 wheels underneath each feet but still.
YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY!
And btw, i have yet to complete my 20 sessions. HAHAHAHA i think i am currently holding (and still setting) the record of the Trainee Who Took The Longest Time To Complete 20 Sessions. Tomorrow makes my 12th. And also, eh, coming to 3rd month. HAHAHA and Jerald has hinted twice for me to hurry up and finish the 20 sessions.
Haii.
And btw, i'm going to work as SISGCO (Singapore Indoor Stadium Guest Care Officer. Ok the acronym is much needed. But anyway GCO is just euphemism for Usher) for Oasis's concert on Sunday! Hope everything turns out well.
