my first time getting fired
10:51 p.m. @ Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009

Ok so i found out today that i'm gonna get fired.

Actually there were whisperings in the wind since Monday, and to be honest it was irritating. It's like in my face but they're pretending they dont mean that and i'm pretending i dont know that they do mean that.

At the end of the day, when i was standing right outside office, watching the rain in the sunlight, waiting with Liyan for Mr Ng to drive the car over (i hitched a ride to Bukit Timah), i was so amazed and amused, at how i could have known it.
Seriously, since Monday, pieces have been falling into place and hoho ok we're checked. Hmmm.

I found out -technically i asked for it, ironically enough, because i went to talk to Dalong after work to tell him what i did and ask him about finetuning- then he just slipped it into the conversation rather naturally and smoothly, about new interns interviews tomorrow, and how i should wrap up my work, and "discuss how to pass on your work..." Actually i also xin li you shu, and i understand that he just means to say "Thank you, you're fired," But throughout the conversation, he didnt put it outright. It was supposed to be nice and sensitive of him, but to me i found it damn annoyingly cloy. Zzz and all that smiling and "Good job, thank you"

PR FAIL.

There was some foreshadowing, though i only realized the foreshadowing when what was foreshadowed, happened. I was making a call in the pantry, and through the pantry door, i saw Dalong talking to Mr Ng. Then when i reappeared, conversation ceased, i didnt think much of it, then i took my bag and on my way out, stopped at Dalong's desk to talk to him. Then i got it.

The atmosphere in the car was rather sombre with all of us absorbed in our own thoughts. Ok, at least 2 of us in sombre thoughts and 1, HAHAHA i honestly cannot predict him. Anyway actually along the way i noticed an extraordinarily large number of people pointing their camera/camera phones skywards and seems to be taking pictures. (Liyan, did you see??) Really, i think along the way from Serangoon Road to Bukit Timah, there were at least 4-5 people at different places, all taking photos of the sky. Initially i thought it was of a nice sunset. I was still assimilating my rather ungracious termination, and didnt feel like turning my body around to look at what they were all taking photos of. Then in my parents' car on the way home after dinner, i heard on the radio about the massive rainbow sighting.

Aah. How poetic. It was precisely that period of time where i was lost in this mental limbo in Mr Ng's car, and i think feistybanana was moodily brooding, and yet the whole world outside the car/my mind is bathing in rainbow bliss.

Anyway.

Now that we/i have 2 last days in MMI, hahaha somehow it is strangely liberating. If Liyan's guitar is still in office, we should perform our swan song.

And, coincidentally, today afternoon, Alex accepted us as his disciples in Chess, and he actually gave HOMEWORK HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Ok now we have 2 days to learn as much as we can. Actually i realized dont know why i never learnt how to play Chess/Xiangqi/Weiqi(though i read the whole Hikaru No Go/Qi Ling Wang manga series) and i suck at Checkers. Hurhur.

Oh yah anyway. I am so amused at myself and my own internal music playlist in my head. Cant be any less Genius than Apple's. During the silent not-much-talking car journey thinking over my just-getting-fired, i had 张智霖 许秋怡's "现代爱情故事" (i heard it from Leo Ku's Jin Ge Jing Qu) playing in my head, and the lyrics go

别离没有对错要走也解释不多

现代说永远已经很傻

随着那一宵去火花已消逝

不可能付出一生那么多

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ok i doubt many people will appreciate it. It's a happy chirpy song, though describing a breakup. Hm.

Omg i just realized one line goes
"离别时笑笑明辰剩我一个" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA OMG APT TO THE MAX, MAN.

It has never occurred before and it will never be repeated. At midnight it will end, quietly, suddenly, totally. Forever.
But the hours between now and then are opportunities with eternal possibilities."
