YOG ANNIVERSARY!
2:20 p.m. @ Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009

OMG! Thanks to Audrey's reminder,

TODAY'S THE 1ST ANNIVERSARY OF OUR YOG TORCH RELAY
,or ok for the greater cause, THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF SINGAPORE AS THE FIRST HOST OF YOG!

Ah anyway today is such a rainy lazy Saturday afternoon (1 year ago on Feb 21, it was a hot and crazy Thursday) and wah it's been a long time since i last had time to just sit at home and slack.

It's different from sitting at work and slacking. HAIII TALKING ABOUT WORK. Damnitttttttt Friday screw up again. :( But nevermind next entry.

Anyway YOG. Hurhur photos courtesy of Lin Chen's.

WESTWOOD SEC!! My first school in the West Route. :D

ITE Clementi. Before this were:
Huayi Sec -> Hong Kah Sec -> ITE Clementi.

HMMM cannot recognize. Ok i'm checking my notes now. Omgg man, i still keep all my YOG stuff in that that pink folder that Ziqiao gave us. :)
Ok i think this is still ITE Clementi, in action.
Guy in foreground is Weehou the Cyclist.

NUS HIGH SCHOOL! If you know her, that's Ang Yingzhen in the center of the picture! Hurhur i dunno how come Ms Chen got into this picture?!

NUS High School again. Nice enthu pic.

Haha NUS High again again. These 2 were photos from Weehou's cam. I posted them before, but shall just post again to make this entry more complete.

Commonwealth Sec, location at bus stop outside Fairfield Sec.
Woohoo guy-in-front is enthu to the max, man.

Queensway Sec in action, along Margaret Drive.

Whitley Sec. Whitley Sec was slotted into my route at the last minute, and they took over from Queensway Sec at a bus stop along Tanglin Road, and went on to the Orchard Road stretch.

Whitley Sec again, along Orchard Road.

Group photo of Whitley Sec and Yishun Town Sec! Hurhur their Passing-Over Station is at Orchard Cineleisure. Cool eh.

So Yishun was the last leg and finished at SMU.

And unfortunately, i didnt get to see any of them in action, because i was busy on the Road Marshals' bus. So what you've seen up there are also all that i have that i can relish and reminiscence.

Which is not a lot, actually. :(

- All that late nights and poring over the Street Directories; i used 2 copies - My Aunt's large print one to study/photocopy from/make notes from, and Melvin's notebook-sized one to bring around. + the online Street Directory.com to screenshoot and crudely draw in my lines and crosses using Paint.
- Drafting and Editting and Re-editting all the route notes for Runners and another one for Road Marshals.
- Cranky pok sai (eh thanks Shumin, from whom i learnt this vocab from) printer + computer, churning away in the dead of the night.
- Walking over to HCIS everyday after school, for about a week.
- Traveling that West Route consecutively for 4-5 days, by Public Transport, Chartered Bus, and (at that time, relatively) Stranger's Car (Mr Sim) HAHAHAHAHAHA.
- Wave 1 Wave 2 Wave 3 woohoo *waves*
- Having late-night meetings at that round table in front of HCIS's GO
- Handling the HCIS Marshals, communicating with my leaders - Jieyu, Kyung Hoon, Veny, Arda
- Handling Teacher ICs of various schools, handling Bus Uncles, HANDLING THE ACCIDENT!

I am so proud of me. And us. :D Hip hip hooray.

Btw fun fact: The YOG2010 HQ Building is coincidentally along that stretch of Tanglin Road which was in my route! :D
And, after the Torch Relay thing, i realized that i've been passing that same road since J1 (YOGTR was in early J2) because my father will turn into Tanglin Road after dropping my sister at Crescent to send me to school! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA and i never realized it is that same road, even during the planning period.

I wonder if i'll get to do something like this again. ONCE IN A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE? Heh.

Anyway HMMM i realized some parallels between this and the work that i'm doing at MMI now. I wonder who was the one who compiled all the contacts of the Secondary Schools + JCs + ITEs and subsequently email-blasted them to ask if they wanted to participate in our Torch Relay? Ah i think i was lucky to be further down the production line, and got to work with something tangible, like the list of confirmed schools, and thus i can plan my route around them?

Everything is built upon something right, so someone must somehow make that something, before anything else can happen. Ah well.
