Hiccups in Life - Good/Bad and what's a line anyway?
10:17 p.m. @ Saturday, Feb. 07, 2009

So many things. Good and Bad, but i cant believe myself, i am so unbelievably optimistic and enthusiastic nowadays. HAHAHAHA can you believe i said that. I feel like The Eternal Amateur.

Anyway. Ok i shall just talk about the Bad. But at the end of it, it might not be that bad after all.

Yesterday night, somebody splashed red paint at my grandma's house.

And the way i found out was also, nothing short of amazing coincidence. I went for The Skating Thing again at 9.30am, but i forgot to bring the SWU shirt which was given to us. So when we ended at 11+ and i got to know that 2pm we're doing Skate Ambassador duties at Jurong Point again (which reminds me, HAHAHAHA I MET HUANGRONG THERE HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I knew i would surely meet someone i know, hurhur turned out to be her. :) ) so i went home to shower and to get the shirt before going down to Jurong Point to meet them at 1.30pm. So on my way home i called to ask my mother if i should buy lunch back for her and she informed me that today (coincidentally) my grandma made lunch (after she did some ancestors' offerings thing) so everybody's going to her house for lunch, and i could also go before i go Jurong Point after that. It was only after i showered and as we were leaving for my grandma house, that my mother told me about the paint splashing incident.

A million and one thoughts ran through my mind. And my mother asked me what i thought was the most likely explanation. I guessed one of my uncles. HAHAHA in retrospect ok i was being really bad and treacherous coz afterall he's my family!! And honestly, relative (haha pun) to some other family that i have, he is considered good already. But anyway so after our own "internal family investigations", we are sure it isnt due to anyone owing debts or anything. (offending someone... that one still under investigation eh. But obviously since all of us are equally clueless, the ultimate culprit as the offender probably did it unwittingly. And it could be me for all i know. :O)

So called police and all (that was before we arrived at my grandma house) so i missed the whole first-hand-interaction-with-police experience, hurhur. Ok my grandma's house is landed property semi-D, and so the paint was flung at the gates, didnt manage to hit the front door yet. So the gates kena, the little bush kena, and of course the floor beyond the gate, since the gate is those kind of HMM how to say, "hole-ly" kind. Ok just like what a normal gate is like.

Apparently it was done between 2300-2330 last night, because my grandma locks the door at 11pm every night, and my aunt came back at 1130pm last night and she actually didnt notice the vandalism and drove her car in as per normal, so this morning they discovered the paint on the floor, as well as her tire marks spreading it further in.

So at 130pm i still went on to Jurong Point for The Skating Thing, and when i returned back to my grandma house at about 330pm, the maid had cleaned off most of those on the floor, after depleting 3 bottles of thinner, and to solve the problem of the gate (the original colour was green)
I think this is the funniest part -
We decided to paint the whole bloody gate red now.
So yah now the gate is freshly painted red.

And over dinner (we went to a restaurant happily) everyone was joking and laughing and saying skarli tonight come and splash green paint. Then we have to paint again. And also making all sorts of jokes about who should be on vigil tonight in case anything happens (my grandma immediately just jumped to the worst conclusion - COME AND SET FIRE TO BURN OUR HOUSE DOWN)

But anyway, at the end of the day, i'm just very glad that at least no one in my family was harmed. Phew that is really, the most important, right.

I hope the truth behind the matter comes to light soon. Now everyone (in my family, that is) is eagerly speculating and personally, while i am glad that this time is the least damaging (ie health and well-being of family members) (ok except maybe for the maid... I dont think inhaling all that turpentine/thinner fumes was any good for her.) there will still be this nagging worry at the back of the mind this isnt cleared up eventually.

Hmmm. :S:S:S

Oh yes i forgot. HAHAHAHA the best part was, in the afternoon when the maid + random helpers like my mother and my aunt were painting/supervising, my mother actually noticed a trail of red plain droplets/streaks, AND TRACED THE CAN. It was ditched in some bushes around the corner, about 3 units away. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA it was funny in a sense that, SO ALL THAT FA ZHENG XIAN FENG DIDNT GO TO WASTE, EH?? :)

But then she and the maid started handling the evidence with their bare hands so i think it is highly contaminated now. :( Not that i'm really expecting Singapore's Police Force to really mobilize a forensics team to help us.

I was also studying it (I USED TISSUE PAPER TO HOLD IT OK. I GOT WATCH FA ZHENG PROPERLY! HAHA!) but there's nothing that seems suspicious. It was a Berger brand of paint, 1l can, kept in those ubiquitous red plastic bag and then seemed to be carelessly thrown away, because of
1) the trail of red paint droplets on the floor
2) the plastic bag had paint on it. So seems like, take the can, fling the paint out at our house, throw the can into plastic bag with some residual wet paint still dribbling out, then throw into the bushes.
3) the lid is also there. Which means it's likely that the can was bought and brought (but didnt manage to find a pricetag/any stickers to indicate where it was bought) before our house, then opened on the spot, then splash at us, then ditch evidence and run away.
4) It was just paint splashed in from the gate. No messages, no contact numbers, no names, no "O $ P $", nothing!! And it was done relatively quietly - just splashed and left. Didnt shout for anyone, didnt seem to be looking for anyone, nothing.

HMMM. Dunno lah, i hope the police really helps us. Zzz. And i also hope nothing else happens.

In all other aspects, today was a really good day and skating went well. Haha in the end i also didnt manage to hear anything from Jerald about the emails (at LJ) and this morning i coached a 3-year-old boy!! Do you know how young and small is 3 years old. Very. HAHAHA. He was quite cute except that he's zoning out 3/4 of the time.

Anyway ok i shall go to sleep now. I received an sms from the CC guitar teacher and i am going down tomorrow to look see and confirm if i'm going to take up lessons with him.

Life still goes on eh. The paint-splashing hiccup seems to be one of those satisfying stuck-for-damn-long-ah-finally-can-come-out burps, and when it's burped it's probably abrupt and loud and rude, but after that all will be well, and yea, we shall see what goes on from here...

Ok bb.
